Pine Mountain Middle School has started its annual holiday program, The Giving Tree.
The Giving Tree provides gifts for children in need in our community. Each ornament placed on the tree has a wish or need for each child. If you are interested, please retrieve an ornament from the tree housed in the front office at PMMS. Please return all purchased gifts unwrapped to the front office by Tuesday (December 13th) with the ornament you pulled off the tree. Thanks so much!!!!!!!!

It has been a great start to the year! We are enjoying all the exciting changes we have this year. The third period Reach classes are a hit! Both the teachers and students are loving the variety it adds to the day! The 7th and 8th graders have the wonderful experience of having a STEM and Humanities department.
We have already started classroom guidance lessons. We are discussing Responsibility and Problem Solving with our 6th and 7th graders! In addition, we are excited about kicking off our first Peer Mustang Mentorship Program. Mustang Mentorship is a peer mentoring program we are piloting this year. We have some amazing 8th grade mentors and 6th grade mentees!!!!
8th grade parents - Don't forget to check out the eighth grade tab!
During the next two weeks, parents and students will be selecting and registering for 8 elective courses. The first four electives should be the primary electives and the last four should be alternates.
Core Classes (Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies) are recommended by each student's academic teachers. By using Cobb County placement requirements, teachers have submitted class recommendations to KMHS on February 26th. These courses will be placed in the system for viewing by parents and students through StudentVue by the end of March.
If a parent doesn't agree with a recommendation, a waiver may be completed through Kennesaw Mountain High School. The waiver will allow the parent to replace the class recommended with another class at a different level.
Please keep a watch out for elective packets given to all of our 8th graders. This packet includes an orange confirmation sheet to be returned to us, a green elective list, and two flyers. Please visit the Eighth Grade page on this blog for more details.
All 8th grade students will receive their PSAT 8/9 results today (Friday 1/29/16). Please let us know if you have not received them by Monday.
